Introduction
If you are a hockey parent, you know that Thanksgiving isn’t just about the turkey and the stuffing—it’s about the “Rinksgiving.” While most families are carving a bird at home, you’re likely carving turns on the ice, juggling multiple game schedules for a tournament, or racing between rinks in a car that perpetually smells like damp equipment. It’s a lifestyle defined by early mornings, coffee in hand, and the distinct sound of pucks hitting the boards while the rest of the world is still asleep.
We started ChalkTalk SPORTS in 1995 exactly for families like yours. Our founder, Julie—the original hockey mom—spent years on the sidelines and in rinks with her three sons. She saw the dedication, the camaraderie, and the unique spirit of the youth sports world and decided to create products that celebrate it. What began in our family garage has grown into a brand dedicated to helping athletes, parents, and coaches represent the sports they love with high-quality gear and meaningful gifts.
In this post, we’re diving deep into the best hockey apparel for thanksgiving, from festive tees for your tournament run to cozy sideline essentials for those cold rinks. Whether you’re looking to coordinate a team look, find the perfect gift for your skater, or stay warm while cheering from the bleachers, we’ve got you covered. Our goal is to make your holiday shopping easier and more meaningful by providing gear that reflects the passion you bring to the rink every single day.
The Unique Magic of Thanksgiving Hockey
For many families, the Thanksgiving holiday marks the real heart of the hockey season. Tournaments like the Silver Sticks or local "Turkey Trots" on the ice are traditions that bring communities together. It’s a time when teammates become family and the rink becomes a second home.
We believe that sports build more than just athletic skill—they build lifelong memories. That’s why we focus on creating original designs that capture the humor and heart of the sport. From our "Thankful for Hockey" graphics featuring skating turkeys to performance wear that stands up to a four-game weekend, our products are designed by athletes for athletes. We live this lifestyle right alongside you, and we know that having the right gear can make those long tournament weekends much more comfortable and fun.
The best sports gifts don’t have to be complicated—they just have to show that you see, appreciate, and celebrate the athlete or coach in front of you.
Top Hockey Apparel for Thanksgiving Tournaments
When it comes to the big tournament weekend, looking the part is half the fun. Our collection of hockey apparel for thanksgiving is designed to bring some holiday cheer to the locker room and the stands.
Festive Hockey Tees and Hoodies
Nothing says "ready for the holiday" like a themed shirt. Our hockey tees feature soft, high-quality cotton and vibrant, original artwork.
- Skating Turkey Designs: Our "Thankful for Hockey" vintage-style shirts are a huge hit. They feature a turkey on skates, ready to hit the ice, which is the perfect conversation starter at the rink.
- Performance Hoodies: For those chilly warm-ups, our hockey gameday performance hoodies offer moisture-wicking fabric that keeps players warm without overheating.
- Long Sleeve Options: When the rink air is particularly crisp, our long sleeve hockey tees provide that extra layer of comfort under a jersey or jacket.
Staying Warm on the Sidelines
We haven't forgotten the parents and fans! Cheering for hours in a cold arena requires a specific kind of "rink-ready" wardrobe.
- Puffer Jackets: Our Home & Away hockey mom puffer jacket is a staple for those who spend their winters on the glass. It’s long, warm, and designed specifically for the hockey lifestyle.
- Knit Hats and Beanies: Keep the heat in with our hockey knit hats & beanies. We offer various styles, including those for hockey moms, dads, and general fans.
- Gameday Blankets: Sometimes a jacket isn't enough. Our hockey gameday blankets are perfect for spreading across cold bleachers or wrapping around your shoulders during a nail-biting third period.

Tournament Essentials: Organization and Style
Thanksgiving tournaments often mean travel, and travel means gear—lots of it. Staying organized is the key to a stress-free weekend.
Bags and Bag Tags
Identifying your gear in a sea of identical team bags is a challenge every hockey family faces.
- Bag Tags: Our hockey bag tags are durable and feature original designs that make your bag stand out. While we don't offer individual name printing on these, they come in various styles that allow athletes to represent their position or team colors.
- Duffle Bags: For extra clothes and tournament swag, our hockey duffle bags are the perfect size for a weekend getaway.
Player Comfort and Style
Athletes love to show off their hockey pride even when they aren't in full pads.
- Hockey Socks: Our hockey mid-calf socks are a locker room favorite. You can even find hockey team number socks so players can represent their jersey number in a fun, stylish way.
- Lounge Pants: After a long day of games, there is nothing better than slipping into a pair of hockey lounge pants. They are perfect for the hotel hallway or the car ride home.
Gifting for Coaches and Teammates
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, and there is no better time to thank the coaches who dedicate their weekends to our kids. At ChalkTalk SPORTS, we pride ourselves on offering thoughtful gifts that go beyond the generic.
Coach Appreciation
Coaches are the backbone of youth sports. They aren't just teaching the game; they are teaching leadership and resilience.
- Hockey Coach Frames: A team photo in one of our hockey coach frames is a classic keepsake. You can even have the players sign the matting around the photo after purchase to make it truly special.
- Gift & Award Pucks: Our hockey gift & award pucks are fantastic display pieces. They serve as great mementos for a successful tournament or a "thank you" from the whole team.
- Drinkware: Help them stay hydrated (or caffeinated) with our hockey drinkware, designed with coach-specific graphics.

The hockey lifestyle doesn't stop when you leave the arena. Our products are designed to integrate into your home and everyday life.

FAQ
When should I order to ensure my hockey apparel arrives before a Thanksgiving tournament?
We pride ourselves on fast shipping, typically processing in-stock orders within 1–2 business days. However, during the busy Q4 holiday season, we recommend ordering at least 7–10 business days in advance to account for potential carrier delays. For custom team store orders, timelines are longer, so be sure to check the specific lead times provided during the setup process.
Do you offer any discounts for large team orders?
Yes! We offer tiered pricing for many of our products when ordered in larger quantities, making it affordable for teams to get matching gear like socks, hoodies, or bag tags. If you are looking to set up a long-term solution for your organization, our custom team stores and fundraising programs are excellent options that provide high value and help raise funds for your team.
Can I have individual names and numbers printed on hockey pucks or water bottles?
At ChalkTalk SPORTS, we specialize in original artwork, phrases, and position-themed designs. We do not offer individual personalization such as printing specific names or jersey numbers on items like water bottles, pucks, whistles, or ornaments. However, many of our products, like our gift & award pucks and photo frames, are designed to be "autograph-ready," so teammates and families can sign them with a permanent marker after they arrive.
What are some good hockey gift ideas for someone who isn't a player?
The hockey lifestyle involves everyone! For parents, our "Hockey Mom" and "Hockey Dad" apparel collections are incredibly popular. We also offer home decor items like gameday blankets and decorative wood words that show off family pride. If you’re shopping for a runner who happens to be a hockey fan, you can also explore our Gone For a RUN line for thousands of unique running gifts.
