Throw the Ultimate Hockey Team Party
There's a lot that happens during the course of a hockey season! Games are won and lost, friendships are born, bonds grow stronger, skills are honed, lessons are learned and tons of miles are put on parents cars. The end of season hockey party is a great way to celebrate all the efforts that went into creating another successful season. To make sure your team party is a hit, we've put together some unique ideas that are easy to create and sure to be appreciated:
#1 The Food: Hockey Jersey Cupcakes

Keep calm and eat cupcakes! These easy to make cupcakes are sure to be a hit with every single player on your team - in fact, we're almost sure that they'll all be begging for seconds. Use your favorite cupcake recipe or pick up some premade but undecorated cupcakes, these will be the base of your hockey toppers. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
Step 1 - What you'll need: A quick trip to your local party or craft store is all it takes to gather the materials you'll need to make these super cute hockey jersey toppers. You'll need decorative fondant icing in the colors of your choosing - we went with white, red, and blue to represent the colors of our hockey team's jersey. You will also need a rolling pin and consider using a silicone mat and carving tools (optional).
Step 2 - Create the Hockey Jerseys: Fondant usually comes compressed into a large block, so get ready to break out those mom muscles and your favorite rolling pin. Slice a small piece of fondant off the block (you can use a butter knife) and roll yourself out a sheet, choose the color that will be the base color of the jersey. It is important to knead the fondant until soft and pliable. Once you have the sheet of fondant representing the main color of your jersey rolled out,use a fondant carving tool to cut a precise jersey shape out. We promise it's as easy as it looks and will be worth it when all your players see the finished cupcakes with their personal number on it! After the jerseys are cut out, select the fondant colors for the jersey stripes and numbers and repeat the rolling and cutting process! After all pieces have been cut out, carefully layer the numbers and stripes on top of the jerseys, press down lightly.
Step 3 - Bringing it all together: We also used brown and black fondant to craft miniature hockey sticks and pucks which we then added to the tops of some cupcakes to totally give off that hockey team vibe! Once your cupcakes have baked and cooled, pipe some icing onto them, and place your awesome fondant jerseys on top. Tip: fondant holds its shape best when it is in a constant temperature, so we only suggest storing these cupcakes in a refrigerator if your party is going to be in a colder temp environment like a hockey rink. Otherwise, feel free to store and serve at room temp!
#2 Activities: HOCKEY BINGO!

Every party needs an activity, especially when you have 15 hockey players in the same room!. Hockey Bingo will be fun to play at your hockey-themed party and is great for kids of all ages. A game like this will get the entire team involved! We've designed everything you'll need to play hockey bingo, and the best part is...it's FREE! Use the calling cards included in the set to call the bingo spaces or make the game more competitive (and educational) by marking off spaces as you see signals, penalties, and more as you watch a hockey game. (Set includes 20 bingo cards and calling cards in a single PDF file)

Print one Calling Card sheet onto cardstock and cut into separate squares and put them into a bowl or a bag. Print 10 Bingo card sheets on cardstock and cut in half to create 20 individual cards total. You'll need place markers - about 20-30 per player. We recommend mini Peppermint Patties, mini Oreos, mini marshmallows, or any small candy or cereal. Or each person can use a pen to mark the box with an X.
Game Instructions
- 1. Give each player a Bingo card and place markers (about 20-30 or one pen).
- 2. Have each player put a place marker over the free space (or use a pen to mark an X).
- 3. The caller will draw a calling piece and announce the item on the card.
- 4. Each player will cover that item on their card with a place marker or a pen. (You could also mark items off as you see or hear them throughout a hockey game).
- 5. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

#4 Room & Table Decor

The best themed parties are accentuated by carefully coordinated decor. Even the most minimal amount of decorations can really add that special touch to your party. The easiest way to achieve an awesome look that will make your party stand out is to start by designing around your team colors (2 to 3 works best) and go to town! Our color scheme was red and blue and we alternated our plates, napkins, tablecloth, gift bags, and cupcake decorations between those two colors to create a vibrant display!
We also used many of the players gifts as decorations for the food and goodie table and the place settings. The goodie bags were displayed on the table but many of the items for the players we placed throughout the party area to create excitement for all the Husky Hockey players and families! Here are some details on each:

Not only is this a great commemorative gift but also the perfect party decor AND activity! Find the hockey wood words here.
